This is the last MRVED update of the year.  With the cold weather, the end of the school year really came upon us fast!  It has been another eventful year at the MRVED as we continue to assist your schools in many different ways.  If you are in need of any assistance with your curriculum, instruction, or teaching throughout the summer, feel free to contact us.  The MRVED staff is here for you all summer!  If you are ever in Montevideo during the summer, stop in and say hello.  Hope you have an enjoyable, safe, and relaxing summer.  See you next school year!

The Minnesota Career Pathways website was created to help Minnesota adult students create career and training plans that will prepare them for a fulfilling career. The website can prepare high school students, college students, and working adults to enter the workforce by providing them with both the academic and technical skills needed to be successful. We accomplish this by partnering with business and industry leaders, providing professional development to teachers and faculty, and connecting students to online career and college resources through our connections to local consortia.

Domo Animate

Domo Animate- From the makers of GoAnimate comes Domo Animate.  It is a neat way to create or retell a story.  Domo Animate is free and very easy to use.  If you are looking for an interesting end of the year project, give it a try today!  Watch Brandon's review here.

Mary's Pick of the Week

Mybookdroid - This is not a book reader.  For those of you who still like reading an actual book, this android app keeps track of the books you have read or want to read.  You simply scan the bar code and poof it is entered into the app.  With summer coming, you will hopefully have more leisure time for reading and this would be a great way to keep track of your books.  You can download it from amazon or google very easily.  The iphone has a similar app (i.e. goodreads, ireaditnow).  I no longer have to keep a paper/pencil list of books in my purse.

Summer Professional Development Registration Ends May 10

The MRVED Summer Professional Development information is out and can be found on the MRVED website.  There are a variety of sessions for you to choose from.  Many of the sessions are free, but please take note of the sessions that will require a payment.  If your school does not pay for your summer professional development, please see the section in the flyer on payment.  Sessions must have at least 10 people registered for them to be held.  The last day to register is Friday, May 10 at 3:00 p.m.

Tech Tip of the Week

Primary teachers will want to take note of Turtle Diary.  Turtle Diary has lots of games for every content area.  The games are categorized by grade level and content area.  The search feature is fairly robust and offers a great way to find what you are looking for.  Give it a look-over today.

History Live from the Minnesota Historical Society

History Live is a program from the Minnesota Historical Society that brings live historians into your classroom in a fun and interactive way.  Cost for most 45-60 minute sessions is $75 to Minnesota school districts.  Sessions are cross-curricular and aligned to the Minnesota standards for social studies.  This could be a great way to keep your students engaged in May.

MRVED YouTube Channel

The MRVED YouTube Channel has lots of great “how to” videos and every MRVED update from this past year.  The “how to” videos range from Google Docs to iPad apps, to Twitter and Diigo.  If you are ever in need of a “how to” video, contact Brandon and he will create one for you and place it on the MRVED YouTube Channel for the benefit of all.
